Spreaders

. Spreaders

This is a page wrote for Keith, in June, 2005, and now I have web space to re-post it.
here are my pictures I have of W-80, plus some others.

These first three have a lot of contrast, and were on Echtachrome and are a bit grainy to do much more with.

NOW knowing how rare it is to get close to equipment, if I had the opportunity again, I would take a lot more close-up detail pictures.

Also, it's cheaper to shoot more pix with a digital now.

Medford, Wisconsin, 1982.

. Ashland

This one is interesting, the wing hinge pin broke, see chain.
There are paper tags on the chain, saying something about send to shop.
Maybe a casualty of the rock cuts of that area?

It WAS W, now R, 80. A Wisconsin Central unit now.

Ashland, Wisconsin, when they still had tracks near downtown, 1986.

. . . . . . . . A spreader, obviously not W 80,
. . . . . . . . but now that I've scanned it, I'll leave it on the page.

Picture below,
You gotta admire the guys who ran this thing.
It's even cruder than the one at Mid-continent Rail Museum in North Freedom,
and that one has been in their museum for over 30 years.
Great for operator visibility.
Superior, Wisconsin, 1999.
