And a real surprise on my way to work on a Sunday afternoon Nov 2, Wisconsin Southern gp7 idling on the west side of Wisconsin Rapids in the WOW warehouse of wisconsin siding with some Taylor Sand hoppers. WOW where westbound excess cars are parked waiting for the WC/CN Taylor train to haul west during the night. And it was gone by morning. I suppose it went to Taylor Sand? Do they normally have an engine in Taylor? Will another be coming back east? |

responses from Wisrail and WSOR yahoo group messages . Yessir, this unit traces to Taylor. ---Keats Interesting. Anyone know what Badger Mining is operating these days? They leased the GBW 305 (RS20) in the begining, then purchased ex-CNW GP7m 4147 (which was fully painted for Badger Mining), then purchased the 753 from the WSOR (as far as I know, it was never repainted), then replaced both units by a pair of leased ex-UP SW10's from LOCX 1246 (the other was in the shop and I wasn't able to get a number, just see the front) and now the WSOR 702 is on its way. Maybe traffic is so good they need a third unit? RCW Don't exactly know Bruce. I do know that Taylor sand has an ex-WSOR geep working their line so it's possible that they leased one from WSOR as a backup if the other unit was out of service. Rich Peters Sheboygan, WI I saw this one sitting all by itself on the Ackerville interchange on Friday afternoon. Could have been picked up that day and moved to Stevens Point and beyond. Leo When I visited Badger Mining last summer, both of their GP7m's had been replaced by a pair of leased SW10's. They appeared to be in the mind set of leasing power with the lessor maintaining it as well. RCW |
