Oshkosh Drawbridge

Oshkosh Drawbridge

We went to Oshkosh, Wisconsin. . . . . Spring fever.

I tried some kite photography by the former CNW drawbridge near Lake Winnebago.
As usual with this kind of photography, it takes time to get into position.
I heard a horn in the South, and by the time I could switch camera rigs and send it up, the train arrived.
BNSF coal north bound for Green Bay.

Below, looking north at a city park with a band shell.
The tracks are on the right, parallel to a city street.
The sidewalk along the river runs all the way to the drawbridge and would allow a tree-less view of the west side of the drawbridge.

Another view of the bridge.
Lake Winnebago was all ice yet. The horizon is hazy. The east shore bluffs are 15 miles away.
The Pioneer Inn is closed, and access was boarded shut to get to the point of land southeast of the bridge

Just south is a small yard and an old industrial area.
Notice one spur track curving around the buildings.
And there's a curved tree line of a former spur to a building.

. .. . . . . . Oshkosh EAA airport . . . . . . . barely seen from here . . . . . . on the horizon on the right.
