St. Ignace Rail Road Dock

It's been over 20 years since the railroads left the Straits of Michigan.
Some things remain, less the steel rails.

The Soo Line depot is now the Mackinac Grill.

A red caboose has been built into it.

I had the best
(and most expensive)
meal of our trip,
Oak Planked Whitefish.

There's Rail and Ferry historical items and pictures inside and out.

This area has signs recalling the days when this was the 'railroad dock' and the 'Chief Dock', because the ferry Chief Wawatam was in service here for many years.

some boxcars have been set as stores, east of the depot.

Star Line refers to the people ferry service to Mackinac Island.
